IOH Celebrates Brain Injury Awareness Month – Week 2

Institutes Of Health is proud support Brain Injury Awareness Month and stand with the concussion community to break down stigma and empower those who have survived traumatic brain injuries. Each week in March, we raised awareness for one of the most common, yet least understood, forms of injury-related disability, a traumatic brain injury.

WEEK 2: Brain injury occurs every 9 seconds in the United States and is referred to as an “invisible epidemic.” The catastrophic effects of brain injury range from personality changes, loss of family and careers, mood instability and can devastate an individual’s ability to function independently. Institutes of Health’s advanced treatment programs serve patients affected by work related head injuries by establishing individual treatment plans to collaboratively assist in the healing process and achieving personal and employment goals.
